2025 GNPVA Volunteer Day

Our annual Volunteer Day will return this year on Saturday, May 17. We will meet at the Community Building in West Glacier. Look for signs just before the entrance station in West Glacier. Everyone is invited to attend, members and non-members alike.

8:30 am, Coffee, tea and assorted breakfast bites will be available, please bring your own mug (BYO)

9:00 am, Short annual meeting with GNP personnel,

9:30 am, Break into work groups and work until 3:30 pm at the latest.
Bring water, lunch, work clothes and gloves.

Please RSVP to gnpvolunteers@gmail.com if you plan on working on projects during the day so we know how many projects to schedule.
A Great Way to Help Glacier National Park!

Below Are a Few of the Projects Tentatively Scheduled

1. Staining the Apgar Education Center deck (4 people max),

2. Re-paint bike path stencils in HQ housing area (2 people max),

3. Removing rocks from lawns in HQ housing (no upper limit of participants, this project needs to be done ASAP, which is why it's a part of GNPVA day). These rocks were dug up as part of the sewer project that happened last year. There are now a bunch of rocks on lawns and if the lawn mower goes over them, the rocks will either damage the lawn mower or rocks will get zinged into windows. These rocks need to be thrown into the woods. We are looking into tools such as rakes to help with this project. If you have heavy duty rakes, please bring.

4. Removing sticks from around housing areas and piling them in front of houses on the road (this will be done in conjunction with removing rocks)(no upper limit on number of participants). This is the same project that happened last year. This helps to remove obstructions from the lawn mower and to reduce fuels from around housing.

We will have sign up sheets for each project. When you have finished for the day please come back to the community center and sign out, so we can keep track of your hours.

More information on each project will be provided on volunteer day.

Thanks and hope to see a great turnout.

GNPVA - Volunteer Day Gardens

This is a great way to help the park and meet people with a like interest—volunteering in the park we all love! Trail maintenance is also a popular activity, with crews of volunteers working with park staff to get trails ready and open for the summer season. And the carpentry shop hums along with volunteers helping on projects like new kiosks, window replacements and staining and painting.
