The annual Winter Speaker Series, a tradition in the Flathead Valley for decades, is sponsored by Glacier National Park Volunteer Associates (GNPVA). Each 4th Monday of January, February, and March a guest speaker presents subjects of interest related to Glacier National Park (GNP). The talks are free and open to the general public.
The speaker for January 28th is Brian Sommers, MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Criminal Investigator. He has been a MT Game Warden for 30 years. His presentation will be on “Stories from the Wildlife Human Attack Response Team” (WHART). 7 pm at Museum at Central School, Kalispell.
On February 25th Teagan Tomlin, an interpretative ranger at GNP, will present “If Rocks Could Talk”. Teagan will guide listeners through the impressive story of Glacier National Park’s geologic history as she describes four major phases that helped shape the park’s breathtaking scenery. She also helps listeners interpret the physical appearance of rocks found in the park in order to interpret how Montana has changed over the past 1.5 billion years. 7 pm at Museum at Central School, Kalispell.
The March 25th presentation will be given by Travis Neil, Project Manager, Dick Anderson Construction Co., Travis will provide insight in the rebuilding of Glacier National Park’s Sperry Chalet. He will be joined by Rob Terrio & TJ Lashley, Superintendents who will share pictures taken during Phase I of the reconstruction.
Please note the change in venue for the March 25th presentation. It will be held at the FVCC in the large Community Room (room 139) in the Arts and Technology Building at 7:00 pm.
